Welcome to Chesterfield co-operative Choral Society |
||
Introduction & History The choir was formed in 1937 and was known as the Chesterfield Mixed Voice Choir for many years. It has a long-serving and loyal membership, and over the years has performed many concerts both large and small. They perform 6 or 7 times a year throughout Chesterfield and beyond, and their bi-annual Autumn concert with orchestra has become a major event in the musical calendar of the area. The choir's primary aim is to foster a love of, and an interest in, choral music for both its members and the public at large. The choir has recently benefited from sponsorship by the Midlands Co-operative Society. They have given two notable performances of the complete 'Messiah' in 2006 and 2009 and have twice performed at Chatsworth House. |
Interested in joining the choir? Chesterfield Co-operative Choral Society is a small, non-auditioned choir based in the Derbyshire town of Chesterfield. We rehearse at Whittington Moor Methodist Church most Friday evenings between 7.30 and 9.30 pm. We sing a range of music from Handel's Messiah to modern pop song arrangements, and everything inbetween. We always welcome enquiries from singers of all voice parts, and you are warmly invited to come along to a rehearsal to see how you get on. Enquiries should be made via the 'Contact us' tab on this website, and someone will get in touch with you to discuss the next stage. We are a friendly and enthusiastic choir and would encourage all singers who enjoy making music to get in touch and come and join us!
